Church Security Team Training
We like to think of our places of worship as being safe and free of criminal activity. Generally speaking, they are but we still see plenty of both non-violent and violent crimes on religious properties. In fact, violent crime has been on the rise on faith-based properties and events in recent years.
Law enforcement plays a huge role in dealing with these events, however, those present at the time are the ones that are forced to respond first. Because of this, it is important to be both proactive in normal operations and have training for when events do occur.
Although training to carry concealed handguns in a Louisiana church is no longer mandatory unless stipulated by the church or insurance policy, it is still recommended for many reasons.
Please contact us if you or your church is interested in hosting the one or two day format of this course.
I discuss the requirements in this video:
2018 EDIT: LA R.S. 40:1379.3 was amended as of August 2018. The previous training requirement is now only mandatory if “required by the entity which has authority over the religious organization pursuant to Paragraph (1) of this Subsection or by the owner of the building’s liability insurance policy. The training shall be conducted annually.”
